1: Chitwan national park

The Chitawan National Park is situated in the inner Terai lowlands of South-Central Nepal. This is one of the oldest national parks in Nepal and is declared as a world heritage site. Here there are more than 43 species of mammals including one-horned rhinos, tigers, crocodiles, gaur, wild elephants, pangolin, striped hyena, Gangetic dolphin, monitor lizard, etc. There are more than 450 species of birds and more than 45 species of reptiles and amphibians. 2: Sagarmatha national park

This park is located in the Khumbu region, north-east of Kathmandu. The park includes Mount Sagarmatha and several other peaks including Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Pumori and Nuptse. The mountains have deep gorges and glacial valleys. The wildlife includes the Himalayan Tahr, goral and musk deer.

3: Bardia national park

Bardia National Park is in the western plain region of Nepal. This park covers an area of 969 sq km. Here one can find one-horned rhino, tiger, wild elephant, swamp deer, gharial, crocodile, black buck, marsh mugger, snakes, lizards and Gangetic dolphins. 4: Khaptad national park

Khaptad national park situated western part of Nepal covering an area 225 sq. km and buffer zone 216 sq. km. National park consist the districts of Bhajhang, Bajura, Doti and Achham. Khaptad has its own religious importance it is the home of khaptad baba a popular Pilgrimage of this region. Subtropical, temperate and alpine vegetation found in this Park, it is a habitat of different wild animals, birds and butterflies.

5: Rara national park

Rara is the smallest national park of Nepal; hold the country’s biggest lake expend 10.8 sq. km and scenically the most beautiful lake at an elevation of 2999m. Rara national park covers an area 106 sq. km; buffer zone 198 sq. km spreads mugu and jumla districts established in 1976 to conserve the unique beauty of Lake Rara and to protect the flora and fauna of the Humla – Jumla Karnali region. Best season to visit the park is March to May and Sept to Nov.

6: Makalu barun national parks of Nepal

Makalu barun national park was established in 1992 to protect Himalayan remarkable biodiversity. It is a living laboratory of mountain ecosystems on earth expand from sub tropical to alpine vegetation. This park host 47 varieties of orchids, 19 species of bamboos, 15 oaks, 87 species of medicinal herbs, 30 verities of rhododendron, 86 species of fodder trees and 48 species of primrose beside that 400 species of birds and verity of wild animals. 7: Sheyphoksundo national park

Shey Phoksundo is the largest national park of Nepal established in 1984 A.D highlights of the park are Kanjiroba Himal, Shey Monastery, Phoksundo Lake and Langu Gorge etc. Park covers an area 3,555 sq. km; buffer zone 1349 sq. km spreads Dolpa and Mugu districts in the Trans Himalayan region it is habitat of rare snow leopard, grey wolf, musk deer, Tibetan sheep, gazelle and wild yak.

8: Langtang national park

Langtang is the nearest national park from Kathmandu. This park encloses the catchments of Trisuli River and Sun Koshi River. The vegetation include subtropical forests, oak and pine forests, alpine forests and grass lands. This park has various species of rhododendron. The wildlife consists of red panda, musk deer, wild dog, Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan black bear, rhesus monkey, langur, etc. There are about 45 villages with homes of various ethnic groups. Shivapuri National Park is the nearest national park close to Kathmandu, two surrounding hills of Kathmandu valley, Nagarjuna and Shivapuri hills area is the territory of Shivapuri national park.
